Summary
Connecting OpenOffice.org to a remotely hosted MySQL databse is
not very different from connecting to one locally and a relatively
simple task once the three major pieces (OpenOffice.org, the MySQL
ODBC driver and a remote MySQL database) are in place. Once connected,
standard SQL queries can be run to extract data from the remote
database using an SQL "query builder" tool similar to that in MS
Access or from straight SQL commands. Also,
the remote database can be administered to a certain extent from
within
this
interface.
